TOP QUESTIONS TO ASK A POTENTIAL SUPPLIER OF SCHOOL BUS VIDEO CAMERA SYSTEMS

Business relationships cannot be based on deceit.
Ask them the following questions to see if they are honest and reputable to learn if they treat customers with respect.

1.  Why are your School Bus Camera System prices not online?
While the most common reaction might be, “Are you embarrassed by your pricing or hiding something?”
The business model of no prices listed online is a long-proven method to force the prospective customer to be victim to the high-pressure commission salesperson, immediately putting you in the crosshairs of a person trained to close a sale whether it is what you need or not.

American Bus Video Inc. publishes School Bus Camera System Pricing online for all to view; as we know, some viewing our systems are simply gathering cost information for budget requests for the next school year, so we do not hassle them by forcing them to discuss the potential purchase. ABV does not have any commission salespersons, and no one reading this has ever received a cold call harassing them to try to pressure them into a sale. Our past experience with commission salespersons is they tend to lie, cheat and steal and end up making promises they cannot keep, creating unhappy customers, so we have not had any salespersons since 2010.

2.  Do you offer a Lifetime Warranty on every School Bus Video Camera System?
The short answer from them would be “No,” which begs the question, “Why not? Is there something wrong with the product?”

Warranties are a Prepaid cost of the product.
Because of this, Warranty and Price are directly related.
So a Low Price School Bus Camera System will come with a 1-Year Warranty, while a high-priced system will have a 3-Year Warranty. What this means is those seeking the lowest cost product will not get the low price if the product they have offers a long-term warranty.

American Bus Video Inc.’s solution for this relationship of Price and Warranty would be;
Standard 1-Year system Warranty to provide the lowest price possible.
ABV offers an optional Testudo School Bus Cameras Lifetime System Warranty for those who believe the Best Value School Bus Camera System has a Lifetime System Warranty and choose to pay for the longer warranty
In this way, we offer both and permit the customer to decide what they value most, a lower price or a longer warranty, as value is subjective, and only the customer can determine which provides their district the best value.

3.  Who makes your DVR & Cameras?
I am not aware of a single company in the USA making a mobile DVR in the School Bus Video Camera System market.
Yet almost every company I have ever spoken with tells me they make their own DVR.
Should they be honest, they will let you know if the DVR is made in China, Israel, or South Korea.
Deceit is a terrible foundation to base a business relationship upon. If they lie about this before you become their customer, it will likely get much worse when you have problems with their systems.

American Bus Video Inc. does not manufacture any of the products we offer; we openly state that to all who ask, a “Free exchange of value” can only work without deceit to your business partner.

4.  What problems have your customers had with this product?
The most likely response will be something like, “our customers have no problems with our School Bus Camera System products”, which in all likelihood, is a bald-faced lie told by someone who gets a fat commission from your purchase of their products.
The fact that they may be able to deliver that level of deceit with a straight face might indicate their level of skill in deception or the fact they lie so often that they no longer respect the customer enough to feel bad about lying to them all the time, or they are practicing for a career in politics.

American Bus Video Inc. publishes School Bus Camera System issues online in Service Memo for all to view, and we offer solutions to these issues.
Integrity and transparency require an open and honest exchange of information, so we publish product issues online so all customers can see what problems we have had in the past with product lines and how they were solved. Student Transportation Contractors who must add these systems to the buses by contract can now see what kind of issues they have had with our products and how we resolved them.

5.  Can your DVR work with every camera your company has sold in 30 years?
Expect a look of confusion with this one, as this has likely never been asked of them. So you might often see the classic “Brook Trout” response where the eyes glaze over, the lower jaw drops, and they seem to be gasping for a breath. Typically of, the ones who can recover from that question, they will ask you something like “Why do you ask”, which is just a struggle to recover from your question, to which they would have to answer “No”.

American Bus Video Inc. offers Analog High Definition DVRs that are backward compatible with analog CCTV cameras as well as megapixel HD CCTV cameras I have sold in 30+ years. When your concern is offering the best value to the customer, you pay more for your Analog High Definition DVRs to ensure your customer’s previous investments in Bus Video Cameras can be used with the new technology DVRs. The best way to ensure backward compatibility in your system is to choose Analog High Definition, aka AHD DVRs.

6.  Can your DVR support older Analog and High Definition cameras?
Analog High Definition DVRs are backward compatible with analog CCTV cameras as well as megapixel HD CCTV cameras I have sold in 30+ years. When your concern is offering the best value to the customer, you pay more for your DVRs to ensure your customer’s previous investments in Bus Cameras can be used with the new technology DVRs.
AHD DVRs enable School Bus Stop Arm Camera add-on simply by plugging them in and mounting them on the vehicle.

7.  What is the lowest temperature your DVR can function at?
American Bus Video, Inc. sells only 100% Solid State memory devices, which means there are no moving parts in the recording system of the DVR, so there is nothing to break due to use-related mechanical failure. With no moving parts, the operational parameters are extended to high heat and extreme cold temperatures.
Companies that use Hard Drive based DVRs have operational temperatures as low as 33° without a heater of some sort, they cannot operate below 33° Fahrenheit. Temperatures below 33° cause ice crystals to form on the spinning disk or platter, and those crystals can impact the read and write heads as they glide over the storage media disk at about 7,000 RPMs and if impacted, can crash the fragile hard drive.
