It is important to properly handle and manage any type of potential evidence
that may someday be needed in a court of law.

Some common concerns involve:

Chain of custody
Chain of custody refers to the authorized parties who will handle and manage the memory storage of the files, whether they are SD cards or SSDs.

Example #1: Those working with the best school bus camera applications in a public school that owns the direct management list of those with authorized access to the memory files, possibly including the Director of Transportation, Drivers Supervisor, Safety Manager, and or Superintendent.

Example #2: those working with Private Service Contractor Charter Transport Compliance Bus Camera Systems would include the Fleet Owner, Fleet Manager, to help maintain the lawful authorized access of files of other people's children, to limit potential for drivers' access in order ot protect them.

Example #3: those working with Forklift HD Industrial Operator Safety Camera Systems would have Company owners, Company management, to limit access to those who do not operate the equipment they are using, the skidloader and pallet forklift camera systems. It is imperative not to have anyone who operates the vehicles involved in the handling or custody of the SD memory cards. So some can change SD cards in a few

Example #4; those working with Medicaid Medical Transport In-Vehicle Camera Surveillance Systems would have the Company owners, Fleet Managers, Supervisors who do not drive, as this woud remove any conflict of interest for those who may have driven from handling any of the SD card files that may be used as expert digital eye witness camera files for court cases.

The persons handling the SD memory cards should not only be aware of the above concern, but they should Not be a driver in the Special Needs Wheelchair School Bus Camera application, a Terminal Yard Jockey 5th Wheel King Pin Camera operator in the trailer swapping application, or a Industrial Truck Forklift operator in the materials handling application as all are direct conflict of interest and will violate the chain of custody that must be maintained to remove them from suspision should problems occur and the SD memory cards not be found in the mobile vehicle video camera DVR.

Memory storage protection
Generally speaking, the SD memory cards used in the best affordable school bus camera systems are extremely tough and not easily damaged. Some have even survived the washing machine and dryer cycle when left in pants pockets. However, they have some limitations that need to be known to prevent damage. These limitations include the following concerns.

Memory storage handling
SD memory cards, unlike CF memory cards, have exposed contacts. This means the electronic contacts are easily seen and touched, so they are particularly susceptible to contact shorting under the right circumstances.

Example #1 - When you place the SD cards in your pockets in cold or dry environments, like winter, the static electricity built up in your dry pockets can discharge in the pocket when the contacts of the SD card are touched by the shock of the static discharge. This can scramble the directory for the SD card. The files are usually still on the card, but without the directory, it is extremely difficult to find and/or use the files.
