How Do Propriety Cameras Waste Money & Cause Pollution?

I am compelled by principle, to point out almost all who claim to be a manufacturer of school bus camera systems and the myriad of other application-specific solutions like; Waste Collection Recycling Video Camera Surveillance Systems, along with Alternative School & Juvenile Detention Bus Security Camera DVRs and cameras are openly lying to their customers.
Almost all of these DVRs, cameras, and most of the cabling for them are manufactured in China or Taiwan, and to claim “We make it” to potential customers is deceitful, gutless, a violation of principle, and no way to begin a business relationship.

Companies’ sales and marketing departments are made up of people, and many people are emotionally weak and live in fear, fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of job loss, fear of homelessness, fear of hunger, and death. The weak-willed and those lacking the moral conviction of integrity have learned that if they can deceive the customers into believing that their company is the only source of these products, they will keep them loyal. Most dealers of Special Needs Wheelchair School Bus Video Surveillance Systems, or due not the problems with texting School Bus Stop Arm Camera Violation systems, are embarrassed by their pricing and will not even show the customers what a system will cost on their websites.

It makes sense they would go to great lengths to make another companies product look like they made it by branding it with their fancy logos, calling it some obscure name, and in extreme cases copyrighting goofy names that add nothing to the function of the product but mislead the user through ignorance or apathy to believe that is the only source for this product.

The motives of most suppliers of Vehicle Video Camera Recording systems that employ a business model of “Propriety connectors” are subjective, thus, not self-evident. I view those embracing this business model of “Propriety connectors” to be based somewhere between pure greed and fear, not necessarily to be an evil desire to pollute the planet, even though that is the outcome of their “Propriety connectors” business model in action.

Those I have in the past spoken with about this choice when applied to cameras for school buses seem to be afraid of the freedom of choosing their customer might have if all systems are based on the industry-standard CCTV camera connectors using BNC/RCA connectors. They are terrified their customers have the freedom to choose another company or another product in the future and they fear they will lose the customers to better pricing offered by others if they do not enslave them to their propriety solution and steal from them their freedom of choice.

This flies in the face of true Capitalism, where the strong value of a product solution will best poor products and higher pricing.
This explains why many offering these products live in fear and act to deceive their customers into believing only they can offer the best value product. By acting in this way, they inadvertently create tons of waste, filling landfills with fully functional cameras and extension cables just because their company management’s mindset dwells in the pit of fear, in a self-created prison of their minds.

Though their motives for this wasteful and pollution business model employing “Propriety connectors” for cameras and DVRs may be simply greed, the fact remains that by their use of non-industry standard CCTV camera connectors, they are inadvertently causing a substantial degree of waste, through superfluous duplicity adding greatly to the redundancy of cameras specifically, each time the DVRs are upgraded or replaced.

I have personally been witness to one of the largest school districts in GA, replacing thousands of fully functional school bus security camera systems, camera heads, mounts, connectors, and cabling to them, requiring hundreds of additional hours of installation labor simply because the new tech DVRs they purchased from the same company, changed from Industry Standard CCTV connectors to the propriety Molex camera connectors.
This simple change cost the district about $100,000.00 in the wasted budget, and their shop persons hundreds of additional hours of labor, and if that was not wasteful and laborious enough, they filled a dumpster with fully functioning cameras and camera extension cables that could have been repurposed, because the new DVR tech did not permit the use of the Industry Standard CCTV cameras they already paid for, as well as had installed in the buses!

This “Propriety camera connector” business model is embraced by most of the larger resellers, pretending to be manufacturers of
School Bus Camera Recorders and Special Needs Wheelchair School Bus Video Surveillance Systems are causing an unnecessary amount of pollution by requiring the replacement of fully functional Paratransit Transport Camera Recorders and their extension cables so that the company selling these solutions can make hundreds of thousands of additional profit my planned obsolescence of cameras they know are functions, but no longer able to connect to their new tech DVRs.

The installation time required to install NEMT vehicle transport cameras is considerable due to the cable routing on most hermetically sealed vehicles that transport people or bodily fluids in medical transport applications.

Propriety Camera connectors applications causing pollution:

It is disingenuous to advocate for “Green” solutions and embrace environmentalism when you are creating by your business model of “Propriety camera connectors”, knowing full well the future implication of “Propriety camera connectors” will lead directly to a substantial degree of waste, superfluous duplicity adding greatly to the redundancy of cameras specifically in the school bus video camera markets, or if the district contracts the student transportation, then the charter bus video camera systems would be affected when sometime in the future the DVRs are upgraded or replaced.

It is unconscionable that public applications such as Cameras for Public and Private School Buses, Paratransit Vehicles Video Cameras, and Suspect Inmate Police Prisoner Transport Security Camera systems where US Taxpayer funds are spent, accept “Propriety camera connectors,” which can only cause more pollution due to their requirement of constantly upgrading cameras due to their different connectors with different DVR technologies or versions.

Private applications such as Private Service Contractor Charter Transport Compliance Bus Camera Systems, those using systems for Elderly Day Care Transport Vehicle Cameras, or even some state’s legal Cannabis Transport Vehicle Camera Recorder should embrace the green advantages of AHD (Analog High Definition) DVRs that embrace Industry-standard CCTV connectors for the cameras or at least the 4-PIN aviation connectors. Even Waste Collection Recycling Video Camera Surveillance Systems suffer from the widespread use of propriety connectors as they cannot source parts and accessories from other sources.

Even those student and child transport situations that are not regulated by typical oversight, such as:

Federally or state-funded programs often pay for Special Needs Wheelchair School Bus Video Surveillance Systems or in the case of Medicaid, funded Non-Emergency Transport Camera systems should not waste the funding used to replace functional cameras nor create unnecessary ground and water pollution caused by filling landfills with camera and cables that are functional. The old principle of “Waste not” seems to be totally forgotten in a rush to fatten the profit margin for the sales of new additional cameras and cables that replace the already functioning but older cameras and cables in existing customer vehicles when the DVR technology is upgraded in the future. We offer Waste Collection Recycling Video Camera Surveillance Systems for the recycling trucks that haul materials back and forth to the recycling centers.
