Reasoning w/ Liberals
A friend has asked me how she can get a Liberal buddy of hers to understand why she believes his political viewpoints are flawed and try to get him to see the reality of her political viewpoints.
This one is for you Sue, my favorite Jersey Girl.
Background
Any argument with a Liberal must start on an emotional level then progress to reason as they cannot easily dismiss what they already believe is true in their mind. Once you set the groundwork and make the emotional link to their perceived reality you can then slowly make your case in a way that permits them to realize the truth. If you say it, it can be a lie as you are an evil conservative in their eyes, but if they realize something then it must be true. First a note about reactions I refer to as“Liberal Defense Triggers”.
Liberal Defense Triggers
Frontal attacks on their belief system are pointless.
Large doses of reasons will immediately trigger their defensive Liberal programming.
Liberals do not think the same as the rest of us. Blame it on Soy induced estrogen levels climbing in the population, the emasculation of the American male through feminism, the dismal failure of US education whatever the root cause is, more and more functioning adults are being drawn in, converted or are simply buying into the emotional based arguments of the Liberal left.
Like tank battle tactics in WW2, you cannot expect frontal assault to be effective as that is where their armor is thickest. In order to win over the mind of this political adversary and enlighten them to the benefits of reasoned thinking, you must flank them and make your impact from the rear where their armor is weakest and penetration with a cogent thought or well based argument cannot be easily deflected by personal attacks on you or your leaders as mean spirited.
Steps To Enlightening Liberal Friends
Build The Foundation With Emotional Connection
Any argument with a Liberal must start on an emotional level so they can see you as a fellow emotion based entity and drop their “anti-Conservative defenses” long enough for you to continue to step 2.
For example:
“Do you agree that slavery in any form is wrong?”
“Do you agree bondage of one man by or for the benefit of another man is always wrong?”
Put Them Into The Problem
Ask them questions that place them into the situation they have created for others.
Liberals have long dogged the close proximity of their own self-created problems when they try to address social issues, so they rarely have to endure at point blank range the negative effects of their solutions that others must endure and suffer within.
For
example:
“Do you believe it is fair and just, that you should work all your life for my
benefit?”
“Do you believe you should support my children while yours go without?”
“Do you support “Natural Law” the concept that worldwide and throughout history almost all cultures recognize among other things, a mans right to the fruits of his labor?
State Your Case With Supporting Facts and Historical Perspective
Here is where you provide the facts on successful solutions of this problem in history or present your case to solve the problem.
Example:
A more insidious form of slavery, but every bit as wrong, would be to take the efforts & labors of another in his own behalf, to provide for him and his family, and take them at the point of a gun. You would in effect be stealing part of his life represented by his property. This is the government sanctioned, and widespread form of slavery in the USA currently. This is the effect of taxing income.
Property laws were created long ago, as it was clearly understood, that a man had the right to keep the fruits of his labors. The reward for a lifetime of hard work and labor was the property you could purchase with what you earned from your labors. No man had a claim on what you earned; “Thou shall not steal”, sound familiar? There is a similar saying in every language.
No man has a right to take what another man has worked so hard to earn. This is why stealing is a crime. As Socrates wrote thousands of years ago, it is a natural law, not a regional law. It is universally accepted as wrong worldwide.
Introduce Reason Into The Equation
Complete the argument and rely on them to piece the emotional and facts into something their mind can accommodate. Do not expect them to fully understand what you are telling them. Some may actually get it and snap out of their self deluded Matrix and start seeing the reality of the world politic, but this will not be the norm.
Example:
Since you agree that slavery is an abomination,
that all men have the undeniable right to the reward for a lifetime of their labor in the form of earned income,
and that no man is entitled to benefit from the labor of another man,
can you now see why I see any income tax on a mans earnings as government sanctioned slavery?
“Do you now understand why many who bust their asses every single day to earn their assets are outraged when some corrupt politico decides to buy votes by stealing more and more of our earned income and distribute it to those who agree to vote for them?”
“The difference is our chains are a metaphor, our master is a collection agency that has a far more successful collection rate than the Cosa Nostra ever dreamed possible and this master hides behind 3 little letters known as the IRS, and some of us actually believe they are not stealing enough of our earnings.”
Expectations
Some may never be able to get past what they are told, indoctrinated or brainwashed to believe and may never be capable of cogent thought or independent reasoning. Some on the other hand, are capable but fear repercussions from their comrades on the Left for any unauthorized brain activity, so they consciously choose to drink the Kool-Aid and propagate the Liberal mantra.
You must also realize you cannot save everyone from drowning in the Liberal quagmire of lies and deception, so pick and choose your valued friends carefully and concentrate ton them first.
