My True Santa Claus
I dedicate this one to my pride and joy, my son Stephen, serving in the US Navy.
My True Santa Claus
By MJR SNAFU 2008
When I was a child, I believed what I was told,
My beliefs in a Santa Claus, had oh so many holes.
Like how could a guy so jolly and fat,
Enter a home, which had not a stack?
How could he traverse the globe at such a speed?
To satisfy all those good children in need?
How could all his Reindeer with large heavy hoofs,
Land softly like feathers on so many roofs?
When so many children are anxious to catch him,
Could he elude their detection, yet eat what they left him?
While streaking through storms at high altitude,
Could he foster good behavior and not being rude?
So many loopholes my young mind ignored,
So many possibilities my young mind explored.
Now that I'm older and so much more mature,
I found My True Santa so much more adored.
He has traded his flashy and outlandish attire,
He now embodies values, we all should aspire.
Respect for yourself, your family your peers,
Pride, duty & honor in your life, wherever it steers.
He works just as hard, though 364 days more,
Stars, Stripes and Liberty, he now stands up for.
He's trimmed down, bulked up, and is physically fit,
To battle on Liberty's behalf, so that all benefit.
Traded in that magic bag of childish toys,
He now slings a M16 for those truly evil boys.
Standing between the good and the bad,
Defending his loved ones no matter how sad.
With no intent to conquer, to colonize or take,
He fights for the defenseless, for Liberty's sake.
Defending the helpless and those others have oppressed,
His duties might seem tireless, but he's not depressed.
Thought desert hot days and cold winter nights,
With discipline, valor, honor they will not lose the fight.
Working by night vision or under a bright sun,
Guys and gals of our Armed Forces will get the job done.
Army, Navy, Air Force, or United States Marine,
They are often the last face, the bad guys have seen.
They face danger boldly, truly warriors of passion,
Highly trained in martial arts, yet tempered with
compassion.
Whether guy with a laptop or gal with a gun,
These brave hearted warriors are second to none.
For Liberty and the rights of free men to make choices,
My True Santa Claus is the US Armed Forces.
